I used to over-complicate the summers and try to think of elaborate places to go.
During this “low buy” July, I’ve been trying to get more creative with our activities.I used to take the kids to this petting farm that’s 45 minutes away.
But recently I found a farm that’s under 20 minutes away where you can not only pet the animals, but feed them as well.
They also have a farm stand with trinkets, snacks plus a mini hiking trail.
I wouldn’t have thought to look closer if it wasn’t for this challenge. Well truthfully, being gas conscious also helps to think outside the box.
I’ve also gone back to doing a “home day.”
Tuesdays- Thursdays I work, plus we we have Karate twice a week [then they go to their dad’s Friday night].I decided to make Monday our home [plus no spending] day. We’ll play in the yard, use the sprinklers/pool, do arts & crafts and go for a mini hike in the morning.
The kiddos loved the idea of “Monday hike day.”
Well, okay;
I MIGHT have told them each week we’d do a different treat during our snack break. This particular week we did cookies but we do have plans for lollipops, smarties, fruit snacks and such.#momlife 😉
I absolutely love that this trail is a short walk away from my house; literally FOUR whole minutes away.Other activities we’ll be doing are library story times, playing at the park, going to the beach, flying kites and such.
When I asked them what they wanted to do it just seemed they just wanted to do something together and spend time with me somewhere.
Truly, that is what children want.
To spend TIME with you and feel love.It’s that simple.
Just remember to take it, one day at a time.
