I’ll admit that I kind of fell off the “healthy eating” wagon over the past couple of months.
Summer caught up to me with lots of delicious foods, especially ice cream. While I do believe in eating all things moderation, I can admit to myself when I’ve gone over board.
So we we are; I’ve gone overboard.
For those who are not new to the blog, you may have remembered my post about changing my diet to a more lower glycemic one.
I stuck to a lot of those principles then they slowly faded overtime. I then got back on the lower GI wagon when I hired my nutrition coach.
I’ve been experiencing more inflammation of my bursitis plus I’ve been feeling really foggy. I know for a fact it’s due to me eating foods that are higher on the glycemic index such as ice cream, cookies, bananas and popcorn to name a few.
While these foods are fine, they just do a small number on my body.
I also have developed a HORRIBLE gum chewing habit and will go through a pack [or two a day], which equals lots of extra carbs and lots of bloating.
I decided to go a bit lower carb to see if it helps.
No, I am NOT doing keto but will be keeping my carbs between 10-15% of my daily macro intake.
I’m also not going to be too strict either as I do have plans for apple cider donuts and pumpkin lattes from Starbucks in the near future. I know my body pretty well, so I know what works better for me.
I know a more plant based diet just works better for me. I EVEN know that when I go past 130g of protein a day it starts to take a toll on my joints (see THIS article).
As a fitness professional [and former nutrition student], I have experience with adjusting macros and only do it with myself. Please be sure to talk to your health care provider before attempting any diet.
I will be sharing a “what I eat” post in the next week to show you what’s been on the menu. I’m going to be sticking to the same meals almost daily just to make it easier.Thank goodness my coffee creamer is all fat.
