If you’re watching anything of anything on YouTube, you may have seen these “what I spend in a week” videos circulating.
My “stats” are a 31 year old, mom of three living in Southern New Hampshire; part stay at home mom and part-time fitness professional (19 hours per week).
Here is the week breakdown before I go into detail.
- Monday: Dad’s Day/ Mom’s Work Day
- Tuesday: Preschool + Library Date
- Wednesday: Dad’s Day/ Mom’s Work Day
- Thursday: Dad’s Day/ Mom’s Work Day
- Friday: Preschool
- Saturday: Typically No Spend Day/ Day In
- Sunday: Gymnastics or Library Date & Treats
2/17: Mondays I only work a few hours. I started working Mondays over a month ago and I am able to use this as a quick grocery day. On this particular day I spent $29.85 in the supermarket. Note, I only buy food for myself and my three kids.
2/18: Tuesday, Pat got out of work early so the kids spent the afternoon with him. He picked my daughter up from preschool and took the kiddos to the library.
I went to the gym and then to Starbucks. I had a Starbucks gift card, but my coffee was $2.34 (I won’t count it in my total). I also went to Wendy’s for a salad for dinner, which came out to $5.66 since I had a $2.00 off coupon.
I went to Walmart as well to snag some Valentine’s day clearance for Easter plus my gym membership came out which is only $10.00 a month.
2/19: Wednesday I had work and got a salad for lunch, which came out to $4.71. My car insurance also came out on this day and it was $64.09.
2/20: Thursday I had my last work day of the week and got another salad (hello butternut squash in salad) and it came out to $4.80.
I also got this dress at Kohl’s for a date on Sunday and although it was $7.26, I had a gift card. I also did my big grocery order for the week, which came out to $60.16.
2/21: Friday Pat got out of work early again and picked my daughter up from preschool. I had bought donuts around noon time and spent only $0.92 (I got 2 free).
I spent $34.95 on gas (which usually lasts me 5-6 days) and spent $34.96 in the supermarket for items for our trip to NYC.
2/22: Saturday; No Spend. I like to have a solid day that I spend $0. Some weeks I can do two but if I can do at least one, I am happy.
2/23: Sunday I did a free trial for a gym nearby my parent’s house. I had made it to NYC the day before.
I also went into the supermarket for NY bagels (because, duh they rock) and found Annie’s bunnies cookies on sale. My total there was $6.88. I also went out for dinner with a friend in the city and that total was $28.41.
I typically don’t go out Sunday nights but this was a special weekend trip. Otherwise, if I was at home, I probably would have spent under $20 for the day.
- Total Grocery Spent This Week (for four): $105.96
- NYC Trip Items/ Food: $36.57 (I wanted to keep this separate from my regular grocery bill, since it was extra I don’t typically get)
- Gas: $34.95
- Work Lunches & Dine Outs: $15.17
- Personal Spend (NYC Dine Out): $28.41
- Bills: 70.16
Total Spend for the Week: $234.99
Of course, personal spend wise, this week was higher since I was in NYC for the weekend. But every week vary especially if I have more bills or the higher bills due. This was just a snap shot into this particular week.
I may do another post sharing the week where all the higher bills come out.
We shall see. 😉
Until then, hope everyone is having a fantastic week.
