“If you’re always racing to the next moment, what happens to the one you’re in? Slow down and enjoy the moment you’re in and live your life to the fullest.”
― Nanette Mathews
A month into my “new” self care habits and I can already see [and feel] the difference.I first started focusing on a good night routine to have a smooth morning routine. [I’ll go more into detail on a future post of my night routine.]
Nightly Cleaning: There is nothing better then waking up to a clean space. I make sure I spruce up the kitchen and living room as best as I can before I head to bed.
Clean space = less clutter for the mind.Nightly skin care: Now as I mentioned before, I don’t use a ton of products. There came a point where I was just not washing my face at night. I don’t typically wear makeup but I do wear concealer on occasion.
I noticed my face was starting to break out more. Plus, my skin is very oily. In the past when I wash once in the morning and once at night, my skin is better.I still use the same face wash, but eventually [when budget allows], I’d like to try one by CeraVe, since I love their eye cream.
Pure Barre: I am still going to do Pure Barre for another month. It’s been nice to switch from my usual workout routine.
I haven’t been feeling the best so not doing a ton of HIIT workouts has been a nice break. I’m still doing HIIT workouts. I do only two HIIT workouts a week versus three to four that I was doing. That being said, when it comes to workouts, I am listening to my body more. I used to push through being tired or chug a ton of pre-workout.
But I’ve noticed that less is more.
I’ve been a minimalist when it comes to material possessions, but I never took the approach to my workouts of lifestyle. I’ve seen more results working out four times a week versus the five to six I was doing before.I also used to rush home because I thought I needed to spend every waking second I could with my family. And I know it’s going to sound bad, but you don’t.
You NEED to take care of yourself first.
After building a family, you tend to lose your identity. At least this was true for me anyways, I always associated myself as just being a wife and mom and that’s it.But I am more than that.
I enjoy my alone time to read and work out kid-free. Making the time to wake up early and workout or carve a little time at night to read a chapter or two is important. It’s all about making those things a priority while balancing that family life.
Cultivate the life YOU want to live.
We only get one, so enjoy every moment. ❤
